Pinheiros/Sky picks up third place in Brazil’s men’s Superliga

Brazil's Giba was one of the key components of Pinheiros/Sky's third place finish in the men's Superliga this year
Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, April 29, 2010 -  São Paulo 's Pinheiros/Sky, produced a stunning result against Minas Gerais' Sada Cruzeiro on Wednesday beating them 3-0 (25-19, 25-23, 25-20) to pick up the bronze medal in only their first year as a team.

Athens 2004 Olympic champions, three-time FIVB World League champions and FIVB World Champions Giba claimed 15 points with Cuban star Roca picking up 10.

With the inclusion of Giba, as well as fellow Olympic, World League and World Champions Gustavo and Rodrigão, in the side, Pinheiros/Sky was always likely to be strong.

Furthermore, the omission of Wallace due to an injured hand was greatly missed by Sada Cruzeiro.

This year, Sada Cruzeiro fell one place in relation to the 2008/09 last season when they finished third, beating Santander/São Bernardo, from São Paulo.
