South Africa defeated Congo Brazzaville in their semifinal match, while Angola won over the strong Nigerian team.
The African giants will meet on Sunday in an extraordinary final where the winner secures a direct ticket to the 2012 London Olympic Games. South Africa have been struggling to ensure their superiority after they won the last clash at the 2011 All-Africa Games final, while Angola is seeking revenge to qualify for the Olympics for a second time.
South Africa were dominant in their matches. Their tight blocks at the net and consistent defence in the backline were the keys to taking out their opponents 4-0.
The Angolans overcame the Nigerians 4-0 but it was a tough encounter. Nigeria’s pairing of Jeffry/ Adamu had difficulty finding their rhythm against the Sequeira brothers. It was a better show between Abreu/ Silva and Ijigba/ Goodluck. The crowd thought it would see a battle since these teams met in the last round with only a golden set separating the two. This time around Angola took control and ran out 4-0 winners.
