30-year-old
Marco Meoni has been an integral part of the Italian
side for the past eight years and he used that
experience to superb effect during the 2003 World League
finals to claim the Best Setter award.
In one of the finest and artistic positions in the game
Meoni was graceful while also being deadly accurate with
his pin point sets, allowing the lethal attacking
artillery of Mastrangelo, Papi and Fei to rain down
spike after spike uncontested.
After missing the last two World League campaigns Meoni
came back in style for Italy's new coach Gian Paolo
Montali and despite the 3rd placing for Italy he looks
as though he'll be a regular member of Montali's team
for seasons to come.
