Youth Olympic Games Drawing of Lots completed

Japan won the 8th Asian Youth Girls’ Volleyball Championship on Friday to claim the final vacancy for the 2010 Youth Olympic Games

Singapore, Singapore, May 31, 2010 – The Drawing of Lots for the Boys and Girls’ Volleyball competition at the 2010 Youth Olympic Games was completed at the PSA Auditorium in Singapore on Monday in the presence of FIVB Board of Administration member Mr. Shanrit Wongprasert.

Following Friday’s sensational win by Japan over China, which saw them win the 8th Asian Youth Girls’ Volleyball Championship and fill the last vacancy for the Youth Olympic Games, the six girls’ teams and the six boys’ teams were drawn into two pools for each competition.

1st Draw: Peru
2nd Draw: Japan

Seeded:  Belgium
1st Draw: Egypt
2nd Draw: USA

2010 Youth Olympic Games Boys’ Volleyball Competition
Pool A
Seeded: Serbia
1st Draw: DR Congo
2nd Draw: Russia
Pool B
Seeded: Argentina
1st Draw: Iran
2nd Draw: Cuba

The competition starts on August 21, with each team in each pool will play each other once before the top two sides in each pool advance to the semifinals, which will be held on August 24, before the 5th-6th and 3rd-4th playoffs and the gold medal final take place on August 25 and August 26 respectively.
