Hristo
Zlatanov is well known as much as on the court for Italy
as well as off it.
The Bulgarian first played for the Italian national side
in 1997 and has since racked up more than 100
appearances for the Squad Azzurri but it is his pin up
boy looks, which has helped create a healthy following
for the 27-year-old boy from Sofia.
At 204cm and 103kg he has a big presence on court and
boasts a powerful right attacking arm, which thunders
spikes down, from his position as wing spiker.
Obviously a player Bulgaria would love to have back in
their ranks but he has been playing for Italian club
side Milano since 1990 and in that time he has
demonstrated the skills and determination to make it in
the big time.
Five World League title campaigns later, including two
victories in 1997 and 1999 and Zlatanov is an integral
member of this Italian side which is looking to put
Italian men's volleyball back in its rightful spot -
first.
