Yosleider Cala is not part of the higher echelons of attacking forces in world volleyball, but since last year's World League, he has started to generate a good deal of interest, especially from volleyball aficionados who project him for stardom.
The young man of only 18 years-old, is in his second successive year of being a part of the Cuban starting lineup and in this years World League he will compete with the added taste and experience of a 13th place finish at the 2002 World League and the World Championship in Argentina, where Cuba finished in a disappointing 19th spot.
Despite his tender age, the results of Cuba this year will depend largely in what Yosleider can do. He understands this and is well prepared for the challenge with a high level of concentration in every workout.
A boy of 205cm and 90kgs is not afraid of strong competition and is eager to face the big names of the sport and as he says: "the main thing is to forget that they belong to the elite class."
With enthusiasm and volleyball passion to burn, Cala is definitely one player to watch out for in the future.
