There
is much at stake this year for Argentina, hosts of the
2002 World Championship, so a heavy responsibility
rests on the shoulders of their star player, the 2.02
m-tall Marcos Milinkovic, both a force to be reckoned
with on the court and a gentle giant off it. Argentina
will be counting on Milinkovic - who says nothing is
more important to him than playing in the blue and
white jersey - to help propel his team through to the
final round of the World League. A powerful force at
the net, the handsome Argentine has been selected 290
times for the national side. Born in San Martin, he
started playing in 1988 and broke into the national
scene in the South American Championships in 1990.He is a soccer fan, a collector of rock and
blues music and loves asado (Argentinean
barbeque). Milinkovic currently plays for the Italian
club Asystel Milano, and is making his fourth
appearance in the World League.
