Born
in 1976, Manuela Leggeri took over as captain of the
Italian national team, replacing the long-standing
Maurizia Cacciator and has been an integral part in
Italy's rise in women's Volleyball since.
She made her debut with the national team in 1994 and
has since made 223 international appearances.
A gifted and courageous middle blocker, Leggeri both
admired and is a source of inspiration to her
teammates.
She was part of the team that won the silver medal at
the European Championship in Bulgaria and the gold
medal at the Mediterranean Games in Tunisia.
She also helped the team to make Olympic Qualification
(Sydney 2000) for the first time in their history.
