Yang Hao, the now 23-year-old wing spiker comes to the
2003 World Grand Prix with more international
experience.
Known to her friends as "Haozi', she had already
made a big impression in the 2001 Grand Prix with the
team that won the silver medal and finished the
tournament as third best scorer and also rated high in
attacking and serving. In the World Grand Champions
Cup of the same year she went one step further and was
voted Most Valuable Player.
In the 2002 edition she underlined her skills by
finishing top scorer and best server and was
frequently in the limelight as part of the team that
took the silver medal, as well as the Chinese team
that finished fourth at the World Championship in
Germany last September.
Yang Hao, always expressive and impressive on the
court, represents 183cm of pure attacking power. She
is recognized by many observers as an exceptional
player. Her diverse interests - romantic books but
action movies, pop music, football and tennis perhaps
are a reflection of her equally diverse personality
and skills. Born in Liaoning in 1980, she plays at
club level in her home city.
