Despite her relatively young years Yudelkis Bautista is one of the most experienced members in the Dominican Republic squad with close to 200 caps and has the most World Championship appearances to her name in the squad with 18. But she continues to go from strength to strength as was evident with her Most Valuable Player award during the Pan American Games Tournament played in the Dominican Republic in August .

 "I have been working so hard for many years and it is the first time I get this type of recognition," said the 194 cm-tall player. "I would like to dedicate this award to the fans, especially my mother, my sisters and my daughter. I am feeling great physically with tremendous strength to do my job," said Bautista who finished the competition with 84 points second only to USA’s Nicole Branagh who scored a total of 87 points."

Bautista has a huge reach and great timing and she is the kind of offensive player the Dominicans look for when the closing moments arrive. The very athletic Bautista is rapidly becoming the star of her team. She owns a cannon right arm and is not afraid of taking charge in the big time.
