Brazil make it three out of three on South American circuit
Montevideo, Uruguay, February 27, 2012 – Brazil made it three wins out of three at the latest stop on the South American Beach Volleyball Tour, clinching gold in both the men’s and women’s tournaments yet again. Thiago and Ferramenta overcame Argentine pair Ian Mahamed and Julio Azaad 2-0 (21-17, 21-17) in the men’s contest after defeating Farid Mussa and Leonard Colina, 2-1 (16-21, 21-15, 15-11) in the semifinals. However the home fans had something to cheer about in the bronze medal match with home duo Guillermo Williman and Nicolas Zanota defeating the Venezuelans 2-0 (23-21, 21-19). Youngsters Rebecca (18-years-old) and Drussylla (16) saw off Argentina’s Ana Galais and Virginia Zonta 2-0 (21-18, 21-17) in the women’s final. The duo, coached by Olympic champion Jackie Silva defeated Uruguayan tandem Maria Nieto and Karina Cardozo 2-1 (18-21, 21-18, 15-12) in the semifinals. Gabriela Albano and Lucia Forguez completed the podium with a 2-1 (20-22, 21-16, 15-10) win over the home pair. Brazil now have nine gold medals, one silver and three bronze as they lead the South American Beach Volleyball rankings. Download highresolution |
