The FIVB Volleyball Women’s Junior World Championship is held every two years, allowing the future leading ladies of the sport the chance to compete on the world stage. Established for players under 21 years old, the Women’s Junior World Championship helps players develop their game further and also gives them a chance to earn a call-up to the senior squads. In 2011, the tournament took place in Peru from July 22 to 31. Italy emulated the 1997 team who won silver by clinching top spot on the podium for the first time in the tournament's history. They beat six-time champions Brazil to the title while China sealed the bronze medal. In 2013, the competition will take centre stage in Brno and Prostejov in Czech Republic. |
