Rome, Italy, June 14 - With the FIVB Swatch World Championships Rome 2011 powered by smart taking place in the Eternal City between June 13 and June 19, the Youth Village has returned to the Foro Italico.
The Ministry of Youth, in collaboration with the Italian Volleyball Federation and the National Agency for Youth are again organising the weeklong event.
Over the week both educational and recreational activities are on the schedule. One particular part of the program is an information day led by the Postal Police that will teach children about the dangers of the internet, while there will also be programs to show children the dangers of alcohol abuse and dangerous driving.
The aim is to put the Village at the heart of the World Championships and as well as watching the games children will be able to recreate the thrilling sport they see on recreational courts.
The World Championship will also give the Ministry of Youth the chance to donate a synthetic grass multipurpose court to a school in Rome that is located in a disadvantaged area of the city. The court will remain with the school after the conclusion of the event.
